Plumber and Heating Engineer in Mansfield

Gas Safe registered 946623 · Prices published, not guessed at

Axio Gas is based in Mansfield and most of our work is within a few miles of it. That is not a marketing line, it is the practical reason we can usually get to you quickly and why we know what we are likely to find before we arrive.

Mansfield's housing stock tells you a lot about its heating. The town grew hard through the coalfield years, so there are streets of Victorian and Edwardian terraces around the centre and out along Nottingham Road and Chesterfield Road, then large post-war estates at Ravensdale, Bellamy and Oak Tree, then newer developments filling in around Berry Hill, Forest Town and out towards Clipstone. Each of those brings its own problems. The older terraces often still have part-lead incoming water supplies, undersized gas runs that were never upgraded when the back boiler came out, and chimney breasts full of a flue that nobody has looked at in thirty years. The post-war estates are where we see the most tired conventional systems with a cylinder in the airing cupboard and a header tank in the loft, ripe for a combi conversion if the mains flow supports it, which in parts of Mansfield it does not. The newer estates are usually straightforward combi swaps, except where the original developer fitted the smallest boiler that would pass and the house has since gained an extension.

We work right across the town: the Market Place and the centre, Berry Hill, Forest Town, Pleasley Hill, Ladybrook, Oak Tree, Ravensdale, Bull Farm, Warsop Road and out along the Maun valley. Our hours are eight to five, Monday to Friday.

Frequently asked questions

Which parts of Mansfield do you cover?

All of it, and the villages around it. Berry Hill, Forest Town, Ladybrook, Oak Tree, Ravensdale, Pleasley Hill, Bull Farm and the town centre, plus Mansfield Woodhouse, Rainworth, Blidworth, Bilsthorpe, Clipstone and Warsop. Our postcode coverage runs NG11 to NG25 and well into Derbyshire. Ring 01623 354 884 if you are not sure.

Can I have a combi in an older Mansfield terrace?

Often yes, but it depends on the incoming water supply rather than on the house. A lot of the older terraces here still have narrow or part-lead mains runs that cannot deliver the flow a combi needs, and fitting one anyway is how you end up with a shower that goes cold when somebody runs a tap. We measure the pressure and flow at the main before we recommend anything, and if the supply is the limit we can replace it.

How much is a new boiler in Mansfield?

Our published prices are around £2,500 for a combi swap and £3,000 for a system swap, including VAT, and we run a 30kW premium combi package at £3,600 with a twelve year warranty, power flush, filters and a smart thermostat. Every house is different so we confirm after seeing the job, but the numbers are published rather than hidden.

Do you do emergency callouts in Mansfield?

No. Our hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, and we would rather tell you that than advertise a twenty four hour service we do not run. If you have no heat and no hot water, ring first thing and we will do our best to reach you that day. Landlords who need guaranteed same day attendance can take our £40 a month retainer.

Are you actually based in Mansfield?

Yes. Axio Gas Ltd is a Mansfield business, company number 13655340. We are a service area business so we do not publish the address, because we come to you rather than you coming to us, but the base is in Mansfield and that is where the van starts every morning.

Do you cover the old pit villages?

Yes. Clipstone, Rainworth, Blidworth, Bilsthorpe, Warsop and out towards Edwinstowe and Ollerton are all regular ground for us.
