Boiler repair questions
Do you charge a callout fee?
You pay for the diagnosis, and then the repair is a fixed price you agree before we start. If you go on to have us replace the boiler instead, the diagnosis fee comes off the installation.
Do you do emergency and out of hours callouts?
No, and we would rather be straight about it than advertise cover we do not provide. Our hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. If you have no heat and no hot water, ring first thing and we will do what we can to get to you that day.
My boiler is losing pressure. Is that expensive?
Usually not. It is most often the filling loop, the expansion vessel or a small leak on the system. The expansion vessel is a common one on boilers over about seven years old and it is a straightforward job.
Is my boiler worth repairing?
It depends on the boiler, the age and the part. As a rough guide, if the repair is more than about a third of the cost of a new boiler and the appliance is over ten years old, replacing is usually the better call. We will give you the numbers both ways and let you decide.
Can you repair a boiler you did not install?
Yes. Most of the breakdowns we attend are on boilers somebody else fitted.
What if my boiler is condemned?
If an appliance is genuinely unsafe we have to make it safe, which can mean capping it off, and we will explain exactly why and give you the paperwork. Capping of gas is on our published price list.
